NexSwap makes smart name badges ("tags") that match people at events. This policy covers this website and the setup page at setup.nexswap.events, which you open by scanning your tag to set up your profile and see your matches. NexSwap is based in Singapore and handles personal data in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
What you give us
At a networking event: your first name, company, role or title, LinkedIn profile link, interests and what you're looking for or can offer.
At a dating event: your first name, hobbies, quick picks, what you're looking for, optionally an Instagram or Telegram handle and a photo, and who you are and would like to meet. Dating events are for people aged 18 and over.
Everything except your first name is optional.
Your tag
Your answers are written to your NexSwap tag for that event. Only your first name shows on its screen. To find matches, tags broadcast your interests and goals (at a dating event: your hobbies, quick picks, what you're looking for, and who you are and would like to meet) over Bluetooth to other tags nearby; anyone nearby with a Bluetooth scanner app could read them, but not your name. When two tags match, each shows the other person's first name. The organiser resets every tag after the event, which clears your answers from it.
Signing in with Google (optional)
You can use the setup page without signing in: your answers then stay only in your phone's browser, and you won't see your matches after the event.
If you continue with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google, and use them only to identify your NexSwap account. We don't receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account. Your profile is saved to your NexSwap account, which is stored with our database provider, Supabase, in its Singapore region.
- Networking events: when you return your tag, we copy who it matched to your account. People your tag matched see your name, company, title, interests and goals, plus your email and LinkedIn unless you turn that off. Only people whose tag matched you too can see you.
- Dating events: when you return your tag, we copy who it matched and whether you chose Bae or Nay. For a while after the event, the people you matched see your first name, photo if you added one, and what you have in common, but not your handle or your choice. After that, only the people you both said Bae to see your first name, handle, photo and dating profile. Nobody is told about a Nay. Who you are and would like to meet is never saved. A photo is made smaller on your phone before it's saved, which removes its location and camera details.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the matches described above and the service providers that run NexSwap (Supabase for the database, GitHub and Cloudflare for hosting the pages).
How long we keep it
- Dating profiles and dating matches are deleted 30 days after they were last updated.
- Accounts that haven't been used for 24 months are deleted with everything in them.
- You can delete your saved profile and matches at any time with "Delete my saved profile and matches" under Privacy on the setup page.
Your phone
The setup page keeps your answers in your phone's browser so you can send them to your tag again quickly, and remembers which tag is yours. It doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
